The Medieval recipe for glowing skin!

This is one of our favorites; we use it every day in our personal skincare routines. In fact, we like this more than modern anti-wrinkle creams.

We recreate this excellent salve from Recipe #278 in the Trotula Manucripts.  Written by a female physician in Salerno, Italy, around 1150 AD, the Tortula contains several wonderful formulas for natural skincare.

Nothing compares to natural fats...
Several historical sources recommend fats from duck, goose, and hen specifically for the face.  We think there is something to it!  Compared to beef tallow, these fats have an especially low melt point and lower saturated fat content, so they are quickly absorbed with no greasy feeling.  In our personal experience, it is not comedogenic.

We blend the original scents of camphor, nutmeg, and clove into a subtle, invigorating scent that is suitable for men and women.

For skin benefits: Splash your face and neck with water or rosewater, then apply a small amount of slave to lock in moisture and condition the skin. A little goes a long way!

Ingredients: Olive oil, Duck fat, Beeswax, Glyceryl Rosinate, Camphor oil, Nutmeg oil, Clove oil, Fragrance.
