1480 Caterina Sforza's Face and Hand Salve
1480 Caterina Sforza's Face and Hand Salve
A beauty serum from the "Lady of Forli"!
Renaissance noblewoman, author, and alchemist; in her life's work Caterina Sforza left more the 450 recipes called her "Experiments". Her handwritten manuscripts, completed by the 1480s, were first published in 1525 as the Experimenti de la Ex. ma S.ra Caterina da Furlj.
From these manuscripts we recreate a moisturizer for the hands and face. "A far bella" - "To Make Beautiful"
Made of natural fats that are easily adsorbed on the face, perfumed with fine resins that soften the appearance of wrinkles. Frankincense carterii, myrrh, benzoin, and mastic lends scents of pine, vanilla, sweet green resin, and camphor- but subtle, for use on the face.
Mastic is a precious resin which comes only from a microclimate on the Greek island of Chios, from the Pistacia Lentiscus tree.
We use this every day. Try also on the decolletage!
Some speckling in the product is natural, from the resins.
Ingredients: Olive oil, Duck fat, Beeswax, Mastic, Frankincense oil, Myrrh oil, Styrax oil, Camphor oil, Fragrance. May contain: Maltodextrin.
