A balm for beard, hair & skin from a Renaissance recipe!
Adapted from a recipe written by Girolamo Mercuriale in "De morbis cutaneis", published in Venice, 1572.
Malabathrum is Cinnamomum tamala, a type of wild cinnamon from India. The author imitated malabathrum with a blend of cassia and bay leaves.
Malabathrum was also used in balms in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome.
“Malabathron- biting the nose with its smell, and the sweetness of its smell is long lasting.” - Dioscorides, De materia medica. 40-90 AD, Greece.
Fragrance notes: Warm cinnamon, balanced with peppery herbaceous notes of bay laurel. A comforting, energizing scent for men and women.
Ingredients: Tallow, Cinnamon, Bay Laurel oil.
